Progress over Perfection
We often confuse holiness with a religious version of perfectionism. We set impossibly high bars, terrified that a single mistake makes us a failure in God's eyes. But 1 Peter 1:15 isn't an invitation to a "stress-test" of our own making; it’s an invitation to be set apart for His purposes. Perfectionism is fueled by the fear of falling short, while holiness is fueled by the joy of following the One who has already paved the path.
The secret to true growth is trading our desire to be perfect for a desire to be His. When we give our imperfect efforts to the only One who is perfect, the pressure evaporates. God isn't looking for flawless performance; He is looking for consistent faithfulness. He values our progress—those small, daily steps of obedience—more than a perfect track record. As we lean on His guidance and support, we realize that our actions don't have to be perfect for His light to shine through us. Focus on staying close to Him, and let His perfection handle the rest.
“But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.” ~1 Peter 1:15
