Transformation
1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us that real change doesn’t begin with what people can see—it begins with who we are on the inside.
Outward change should always start inward. Think about getting in shape: it doesn’t begin at the gym, it begins in your mind. Before a single workout happens, you have to decide, “I’m going to do this.” You have to commit internally before the results ever show externally. The same is true with eating healthier. The change doesn’t start on your plate—it starts with a choice in your heart and mind to be intentional about what you put into your body.
The same principle applies to our spiritual lives. If I want others to see Jesus through me, it can’t be something I just “put on” outwardly. It has to start within—my thoughts, my attitudes, my desires, my heart. When my mind is renewed, my heart aligned with God, and my soul surrendered to Him, the outward actions naturally follow.
God isn’t impressed by appearances alone; He is after transformation. When He changes us from the inside out, the world around us begins to see something different—not because we’re trying to perform, but because Jesus is genuinely living through us.
“But the Lord said to Samuel, Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ~1 Samuel 16:7
