Living as the Reflection
If you have ever watched a young child trail behind their parent, you know exactly what it looks like to see someone copy another person's every move. They step where the parent steps, mimic their gestures, and repeat their words. This is the vivid, beautiful picture Paul paints for us in Ephesians 5:1:
"Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children."
God didn't leave us guessing about how we should live our lives; He provided the ultimate, tangible example in Jesus. Our calling is to reflect God’s character in our everyday thoughts and actions. When we do this, we become a living, breathing demonstration of what it practically looks like to walk with God in the "here and now."
This journey isn't about achieving overnight perfection. We are human, we live in a broken world, and we will absolutely make mistakes along the way. But our faith isn't meant to be stationary. It is a continuous journey of growth, of moving forward, and of waking up each day determined to take the next small step toward becoming more like Him. When we slip, we grab His hand, get back up, and keep walking in His footsteps.
Reflection Question: Thinking about Jesus as your example, what is one specific character trait of His—like His patience, His grace, or His humility—that you can intentionally practice reflecting today?
