Relationship Over Religion
It is so easy to fall into the trap of treating faith like a checklist. We show up to church, we check off our daily reading, we try our best to follow the rules, and we think, “Okay, I’m doing this right.” But if we are honest, that kind of routine can start to feel incredibly dry. That is because Jesus didn’t come to start a religion; He came to invite us into a deep, life-altering relationship.
When Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:3 that we must be "born again" to see the Kingdom of God, He wasn't giving him a new religious ritual to perform. He was talking about a radical spiritual rebirth—a complete transformation that shifts us away from rigid rule-following and pulls us into a vibrant, living connection with Him. Checking boxes isn't personal. You can't have a true bond with a legalistic code of conduct.
Jesus wants so much more for you than empty tradition. He wants a connection that impacts every single layer of who you are. He wants to be involved in your spiritual life, but He also cares deeply about your physical well-being, your emotional health, and your daily thoughts. He desires an intimate, multi-dimensional relationship where you can bring your whole, authentic self to Him. Today, let go of the pressure to just "perform" your faith. Step out of the confines of religion, and step into the warmth of a real, personal relationship with a Savior who truly wants to know you.
Reflection Question: In what areas of your faith have you been settling for religious routine, and how can you invite Jesus into a more personal, emotional relationship in those areas today?
