The Practice of Unselfish Love

Scripture Reading:

"Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be proud, but enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!" — Romans 12:16 (NLT)

Unselfishness stands as one of the most vital and beautiful facets of genuine, Christlike love. True love constantly challenges us to step out of our self-centered bubble and learn how to adapt and adjust to the needs, feelings, and preferences of others, rather than constantly expecting everyone else to conform to our desires.

When we operate in humility, we stop demanding that our needs come first. Furthermore, we must never expect those around us to carry burdens, make sacrifices, or serve in ways that we ourselves are unwilling to embrace. Leadership and love in the Kingdom of God always begin with setting a personal example of service. When you choose to bend, serve, and adapt to others with an open, unselfish heart, you display the humble, gentle nature of Christ to a world that desperately needs to experience His love.

Reflection Question: Where in your relationships can you practice adapting to someone else's needs today instead of insisting on your own way?
