God’s choices
Romans 14:23 reminds us that “whatever is not from faith is sin,” while Matthew 1:20 shows Joseph choosing obedience after God tells him, “Do not be afraid.” In both moments, the choice is clear: will we follow God, or be led by fear and the voices around us?
Fear often grows through the thoughts we allow to take root. As Pastor Rick Warren says, “To move out of fear and into faith, you’re going to have to change the ideas you allow into your mind.” We can stay informed, but we don’t have to let information shape our outlook negatively.
Instead, redirect your thoughts. Surround yourself with people of faith whose encouragement speaks louder than fear. Fill your heart and mind with God’s promises until there’s no room left for doubt. When you choose faith over fear, you step into peace, clarity, and the confidence that God is guiding every step.
“But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.” ~Romans 14:23
“As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” ~Matthew 1:20
