Scripture Reading
"Spouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish." — Proverbs 18:13 (NLT)
God gave us ears as powerful instruments of healing, but we can only use them effectively when we learn to listen without constantly jumping in to fix things. When people are going through deep struggles, their primary need is rarely an immediate solution. What their hurting hearts truly crave is to feel heard, deeply loved, and genuinely understood.
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus demonstrated what it looks like to enter into someone else's pain. He taught us to share the heavy feelings of those who are grieving and walking through difficult seasons. When we hurt, Jesus does not dismiss our emotions or rush us past our grief; He stays close and shares in our feelings even while He is actively working behind the scenes on our behalf. By offering our quiet, patient attention, we reflect the patient heart of Christ to a hurting world.
Reflection Question: Is there someone in your life right now who needs your quiet listening ear more than your advice, and how can you make space for them today?
