Built for More: First Place & Full Belonging

The Big Idea

This week, we are learning how to give God our first and best while building real community with our faith family using Romans 12:4–5, Proverbs 3:9–10, and Matthew 6:33!

Think About This

Think about your favorite sport or video game team. If a player only showed up when it was convenient, gave half their effort, and never communicated with the squad, the whole team would struggle. On the flip side, when everyone plays their role and gives 100%, the entire team thrives.

Life with God works the exact same way. It is super easy to slip into "consumer mode"—showing up, scrolling through life, and giving God whatever leftover time, energy, or focus happens to be sitting at the bottom of the barrel at the end of the day. But Proverbs 3:9–10 and Matthew 6:33 remind us that God calls us to give Him our first and best. Surrendering your goals, dreams, and daily schedule to Him isn't giving up your freedom; it’s unlocking His purpose and power in your life.

Even better? You weren't designed to run this play alone. Romans 12:4–5 shows us that we are all interconnected parts of one body. God placed you in a community of believers where you genuinely belong. Moving from a passive spectator on the sidelines to an active contributor in your faith family gives you a solid support system to help you navigate school, friendships, and life’s heavy moments.

Family Activity

Sit down as a family and do a quick "calendar/priority check." Grab a piece of paper and write down three main goals or activities taking up your time this week. Brainstorm together one practical way each family member can put God first in those routines (like praying before studying or speaking encouragement to a classmate), and discuss how you can keep each other accountable!
