Art of Loving Others Well

Scripture Reading:

"Jesus replied, '“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”'" — Matthew 22:37–39 (NLT)

Loving God and accepting ourselves often comes naturally, but loving other people can be genuinely difficult at times. The good news is that loving others doesn't mean you have to agree with everything they do, say, or believe. Love is not about compromising your values or pretending to approve of harmful choices, nor does it mean placing yourself above them in judgment.

At its core, loving others simply means choosing to do good toward them. It is an active decision to show kindness, offer respect, and extend grace, even when differences exist. You can stand firm in who you are, stay entirely true to your God-given identity, and still act with sincere compassion toward those around you. When you focus on doing what is right and good for others without compromising your own convictions, you reflect the genuine, unshakable love of Christ to a broken world.

Reflection Question: Is there someone in your life with whom you disagree, and how can you choose to do good toward them today while still staying true to your values?
