Honoring God
Scripture Reading:
"Jesus replied, '“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”'" — Matthew 22:37–39 (NLT)
"And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'" — Matthew 25:40 (NLT)
When we choose to honor the people around us, we are doing far more than just practicing good manners—we are directly honoring God Himself. Jesus made it clear that every act of kindness, respect, and love shown to others is received as an offering to Him.
However, this truth extends even inward to how we treat ourselves. When you choose self-compassion over constant harsh self-criticism, and when you treat yourself with gentle kindness instead of tearing yourself down, you reflect something profound of God’s love right back to Him. You are His valued creation, formed in His image with care and intention. Showing grace to your neighbor and extending that same grace to your own heart honors the Father who loves you both deeply. Today, let every word and action—toward others and toward yourself—be a sweet reflection of worship back to your Creator.
Reflection Question: How can you intentionally honor God today through a specific act of kindness toward someone else, as well as showing grace to yourself?
