Constant Companion

Genesis 28:15 is such a comforting promise. God is basically saying, “I’m not going anywhere.” Before Jacob had done anything impressive, before he had it all figured out, God had already committed Himself to being present, protective, and faithful. He promised to watch over him wherever he went and to bring him safely through what lay ahead. That same promise still echoes for us today.

God’s presence isn’t dependent on our circumstances. Whether life feels steady or completely upside down, He is with us. When we’re confused, exhausted, joyful, or hurting, He hasn’t stepped away. He doesn’t abandon us when things get messy or when we feel far from Him. His commitment is constant—even when ours wavers.

And that’s where the question gently turns back toward us. If God is that faithful to stay, how intentional are we about including Him? Do we invite Him into the ordinary parts of our day, not just the emergencies? Into our decisions, our relationships, our work, our worries? Or do we try to carry things on our own and only reach out when we’re overwhelmed?

The truth is, there is no one better to walk with us. No wiser guide, no steadier presence, no deeper love. Choosing to involve God isn’t about obligation—it’s about trust. It’s recognizing that the One who promises never to leave us is the very One we want beside us in everything.
