Looking Past the Miracle
Miracles are breathtaking. When we read about Jesus feeding thousands with a few loaves of bread or walking on water, it is easy to get caught up in the sheer wonder of the event. But it was never God’s intention for us to simply stand back and admire the miracles themselves. The supernatural signs were always meant to point us to something infinitely greater: the One who performed them.
Long before Jesus put on flesh and walked among us, God worked undeniable wonders. He rained down manna in the wilderness and parted the Red Sea. But when He sent His Son, the purpose shifted from the act to the Person. God wanted us to witness Jesus not just as a source of magic, but as the living Provider. He didn't just want us to see a cure; He wanted us to know the Healer. The miracles were a divine calling card, proving that Jesus is the one who provides, the one who cures, and most importantly, the one who is with us.
In Mark 6:52, the disciples missed the point of the loaves because their hearts were hardened by fear and doubt. They saw the food, but they missed the Savior standing right in front of them. We often fall into the same trap today. We think we need to experience a massive, groundbreaking miracle in our lives before we can truly believe or feel close to God. But the truth is, Jesus is already active and present in your life right now. You don't need a sign to prove He is there. He didn't just come to show off His power; He came to show you His heart.
Reflection Question: Have you been waiting for a dramatic miracle before fully trusting God in your current circumstances? How can you look past the desire for a sign today and simply acknowledge that Jesus is already with you?
