The Ultimate Destination

When we pray, it is incredibly easy to treat God like a cosmic vending machine. We come to Him with our wish lists, our timelines, and our specific demands, expecting Him to deliver exactly what we want, when we want it. But God operates with an eternal perspective. He knows what is most important for our souls, which is why some of our most passionate prayers are answered with a gentle, "Be patient—not right now," or even a protective, "Not ever." When Jesus says in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life, He is reminding us that He isn't just a path to getting what we want—He is the prize. Our prayers shouldn't always be a one-sided negotiation about our immediate desires. Instead, prayer is about showing up and letting God know, "I am here for You. I am here to align my heart with Yours." Our Heavenly Father is incredibly loving, and He genuinely delights in giving us the desires of our hearts when they align with His good plans. But even more than giving us a blessing, He wants us to experience Him—the Giver of the blessing. He wants us to walk the way, know the truth, and live the life that only comes through an intimate connection with Jesus. The next time a prayer seems delayed or denied, trust that God is inviting you deeper into His presence. He might be withholding a minor request simply to give you more of Himself.
