Soaring on Higher Wind

There are moments in life when we feel absolutely exhausted—not just physically tired, but spiritually and emotionally drained. We try to push through in our own strength, but we end up hitting a ceiling, running on fumes, and wondering how we can possibly keep going. It is in these exact moments of weakness that God invites us to stop striving and start relying on Him.

The prophet Isaiah captures the beautiful, supernatural exchange that happens when we shift our dependence from ourselves to our Creator in Isaiah 40:31:

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Notice that the verse doesn't say we will just muster up enough energy to barely crawl across the finish line. It says we will soar on wings like eagles. Eagles don't fly by frantically flapping their wings until they collapse from exhaustion; instead, they stretch out their wings and catch thermal wind currents that effortlessly lift them to new heights.

The Holy Spirit is that wind for our souls. He is our strength, designed to lift us above our fatigue, our limitations, and our heavy circumstances. We were never meant to accomplish great things in our own human power. We were created to rely on the One who made us. When we place our hope and trust completely in the Lord, we open the door for the power of the Holy Spirit to carry us higher, farther, and deeper than we ever thought possible.

Reflection Question: In what area of your life have you been frantically "flapping your wings" and trying to survive in your own strength? How can you release control and trust the Holy Spirit to lift you up today?
