Breaking the “Only If” Syndrome

We often live our lives in a future that doesn't exist yet, suffering from what I call the "Only If" syndrome. Only if I had that job, only if I lived in that house, only if I were married... then I’d be happy. But 1 Timothy 6:6 reminds us that true gain isn't found in a change of scenery; it’s found in a heart of contentment.

Choosing to be satisfied where God has placed us isn't about being stagnant; it’s about being ready. Think of it this way: contentment is the prerequisite for the next level. If we can’t find peace in the "now," we won’t know how to handle the "next." God loves us too much to move us into a new blessing if our happiness is still tied to our circumstances. When we decide to be grateful right where we are, we unlock the door for Him to lead us forward.

“Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.” ~1 Timothy 6:6
