Confronting Fear
Scripture Reading:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." — 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
"'What do you mean, "If I can"?' Jesus asked. 'Anything is possible if a person believes.'" — Mark 9:23 (NLT)
Fear is often best described as False Evidence Appearing Real. It is a subtle trap specifically designed to rob us of the spiritual power, unconditional love, and clear, sound mind that God desires for every area of our lives. At its core, fear acts as the direct opposite of faith. While fear paralyzes us and locks us in place, faith gives us the courage to step out and move forward into God's promises.
We cannot allow exaggerated worries or imaginary worst-case scenarios to dictate our choices or freeze our progress. Instead, we are called to actively confront our fears with the supernatural power of faith. When terrifying thoughts try to settle in your mind, remember that Jesus assures us all things are possible when we believe. Lean into His strength, quiet the lies with His truth, and take bold, trusting steps forward today.
Reflection Question: What "false evidence" or fear has been paralyzing you lately, and how can you confront it with a step of faith today?
