Rest in His Character

When the world around us feels chaotic, unfair, or completely exhausting, we can find absolute rest by anchoring ourselves in who God is. Psalm 34:8 invites us into this beautiful, personal experience:

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him."

To truly understand His character is to find a safe harbor in any storm. Consider three powerful characteristics of God that change how we view our daily lives:

  • Justice: God is a God of justice, and He will always turn wrong into right. Because He handles things perfectly in His timing, you don't need to consume yourself with worry over mistreatment or unfair situations. You can confidently hand them over, knowing God will take care of it.

  • Goodness: God is always good, through and through. When we surrender our lives to Him, He works to see that His goodness is reflected within us, changing our hearts from the inside out.

  • Holiness: God is holy, set apart, and completely pure. In His love, He works continuously to guide us toward that same holiness within our own lives.

Realizing and deeply understanding that God is Just, Good, and Holy should bring immense comfort through any circumstance we face. You don't have to carry the weight of fixing everything. Leave the tough work to Him, take refuge in His character, and watch how He carries you through.

Reflection Question: Is there a difficult situation or a lingering hurt you are holding onto today that you can completely hand over to God, trusting His justice and goodness to handle it?
