Defending the Vulnerable
It is incredibly easy to feel completely overwhelmed when we look out at the vast injustices of this world. The weight of it can feel paralyzing. But Deuteronomy 10:18 gives us a beautiful glimpse into the very heart of God and where He places His focus:
"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing."
Our God is a defender of the vulnerable, and He notices every single person who is hurting. The comfort for us is that God does not expect us to eradicate every single injustice on earth—especially not by ourselves. But He also doesn't want us to do nothing.
There is always something small, tangible, and meaningful that we can do right where we are. When the world feels too heavy, we can simply ask God to show us the very next steps we can take. He doesn't just give us a mandate; He empowers us with His strength to make a genuine difference. By stepping out in His power, we become His hands and feet to the exact people He loves so deeply.
Reflection Question: When you look at the needs or injustices around you, what is one small, practical step you can ask God to show you today so you can bring His comfort to someone else?
