Slow Down and Listen to His Gentle Voice!
The Big Idea:
When we quiet down the noise and make time for God, He speaks truth and grace directly into our hearts.
Think About This:
Think about your best friend. How do you get to know them better? By spending time with them! God wants to be your absolute best friend, but friendship takes time. In Matthew 6:6, Jesus tells us to go into our rooms, shut the door, and spend private time with our Father in heaven.
Sometimes our days are filled with loud TV shows, games, schoolwork, and busy schedules. But Psalm 46:10 reminds us: "Be still, and know that I am God!" God isn't going to shout over all that noise. When you slow down, get quiet, and read a little bit of His Word, He whispers how much He loves you and gives you His grace for the day. You don't need big fancy words—just a quiet heart ready to listen!
Family Activity: The 5-Minute "Quiet Fort" Challenge
Grab a blanket, throw it over two chairs, and create a cozy "quiet fort" in your living room.
Put away all phones, tablets, and screens.
Have everyone crawl inside the fort with a Bible or a single piece of scripture written on a card (like Psalm 46:10).
Set a timer for 3 to 5 minutes. Everyone closes their eyes, takes deep breaths, and quietly rests in God's presence.
Afterwards, go around in a circle and share one quiet thought or feeling you had while listening to God.
