The Big Idea: Jesus is the Best Shepherd!

Think about this: Have you ever seen a sheep? They are fluffy and cute, but they aren't very good at directions! Isaiah 53:6 says that all of us are a little bit like sheep—we tend to wander off and get lost. But here is the good news: Jesus is like a hero who goes on a rescue mission. In Luke 19:10, He tells us exactly why He came to earth: "to seek and to save the lost."

When Jesus finds us and brings us back to the right path, He helps us live in a way that is "holy" or "set apart" (1 Peter 1:15). That just means we try to act more like Him! And because we are so happy to be found, our hearts stay full of "Thank Yous" to God, no matter what is happening (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Family Activity: "The Lost Sheep Game." Hide a stuffed animal sheep (or a picture of one) in a very difficult spot. Once it’s found, gather everyone together and say a quick prayer of thanks that Jesus always knows where we are and always brings us home!
