The Ultimate Weather Proof Team: Family & God’s Love

The Big Idea

When sad or scary storms happen in life, God gives us family and His big love so we never have to face them alone!

Think About This

Have you ever been outside during a giant thunderstorm, or faced a scary "storm" in your life—like feeling left out, changing to a new school, or having your feelings hurt? Life storms can make us feel really lonely or sad. But God never leaves us to handle those big feelings all by ourselves!

In Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, God reminds us that two people are better than one. When one person trips or feels down, the other is right there to pick them up! God built our families, friends, and church helpers to shield us like a giant umbrella. And even better, Philippians 1:7–8 and Romans 5:5 tell us that God is always watching out for us. He knows exactly how you feel inside, and the Holy Spirit pours God's everlasting love straight into our hearts. So when a friend or family member feels sad or left out, don't just say "don't cry!" Instead, give them a big hug, listen to them, and remind them that you and Jesus love them no matter what.

Family Activity: The "Umbrella of Protection" Build

  1. Grab a large blanket and two strong chairs (or use a real umbrella indoors!).

  2. Have the family sit together under the blanket fort or umbrella.

  3. Take turns sharing one thing that made you feel sad, left out, or scared this past week.

  4. After each person shares, have everyone else place a hand on their shoulder and say: "We hear you, your feelings matter, and we’re in this together!"

  5. Close by thanking God that His love fills up our hearts like a cozy shelter in any storm.
