Finding the Key to the Heart
Scripture Readings
"Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out." — Proverbs 20:5 (NLT)
"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." — Romans 3:23 (NLT)
"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'" — John 14:6 (NLT)
People seek God for countless reasons—overwhelming stress, deep pain, heartbreak, or simply having nowhere left to turn. As children of God, we hold the privilege and responsibility of guiding them to the ultimate truth: every answer they desperately long for is found in and through Jesus. In Him, questions find truth, miracles become possible, guilt is fully forgiven, loneliness is swept away, and crippling fear is finally eliminated.
However, we cannot offer these life-changing truths if we don't first pause to truly listen. We must look beyond the surface and listen to the deepest cries of a person's heart. Everyone carries a unique story, and when we take the time to listen with genuine compassion, we discover the key to opening their heart. Only then can we step into deeply meaningful, life-changing conversations that introduce them to the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ.
Reflection Question: Who in your life is currently experiencing pain or stress, and how can you listen to their heart today to point them toward Jesus?
