Standing Together in the Storms

Scripture Reading

"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble." — Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 (NLT)

Biological, adoptive, community, and spiritual families exist to shield and protect one another through every trial we face. Often, these storms arrive as heavy seasons of change or pressure from harmful influences. Yet, few storms cut deeper than the sting of rejection.

When someone in our circle faces rejection, it is vital that our support system rallies around them with real, present love. Avoid offering shallow clichés like "don't worry," "it's not a big deal," or "don't cry." These quick phrases unintentionally minimize deep heartache. When a loved one experiences rejection, their feelings and emotional pain are completely valid. True family doesn't sweep hurt under the rug or rush to fix it; instead, we pull close, listen with open hearts, validate their pain, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them. In doing so, we ensure that no one in our family ever has to weather the storm alone.

Reflection Question: Is someone in your family or community navigating a painful season of rejection, and how can you validate their feelings and offer real support this week?
