The Beauty of Surrender
When tragedy strikes and our world is turned upside down, our immediate instinct is to look for explanations. We desperately want to know why a difficult season has fallen upon us, assuming that understanding the reason will somehow ease the pain. But the truth is, when we are in the thick of a heartbreaking circumstance, intellectual explanations offer very little comfort to a hurting soul.
Whatever pain you have been carrying and trying so hard to figure out, the most healing thing you can do today is to lay it down. We have to surrender our need for answers and instead surrender our hearts to God. We may not see the full picture right now, and we likely won’t truly understand until the day we finally stand before God and see everything with perfect clarity.
But until then, we hold onto the promise of Romans 8:28. God doesn't say that every event itself is good, but He promises that He will take everything—every piece of your brokenness, every tear, and every difficult season—and weave it together for a greater purpose. No matter how heavy or dark this season feels, stop trying to fix it or explain it. Give it all to God, trust His heart, and let Him do what only He can do.
Reflection Question
What specific piece of pain or unanswered "why" are you holding onto today that you need to completely surrender into God's hands?
