The Healing Art of Truly Listening

Scripture Reading:

"We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord." — Romans 15:2 (NLT)

There is a world of difference between merely hearing someone’s words and genuinely listening to their heart. True listening goes deeper than absorbing spoken sounds; it is the quiet act of sensing what someone isn't saying—discerning the unuttered heartache, heavy burdens, or silent cries for help behind their words.

To love others well, we must learn to listen patiently without constantly interrupting or feeling the sudden urge to fix every difficult situation. Most of the time, people don't need a quick solution or unsolicited advice; they simply need a safe, non-judgmental space to be heard. Deep emotional healing often flows when someone feels truly seen and understood. Choose to be fully present in your conversations today. Set aside distractions, quiet your mind, and listen with deep, Christlike empathy to those around you.

Reflection Question: Who in your life needs you to set aside advice-giving today so you can simply be present and listen to their heart with empathy?
