Made For Eternity

Scripture Reading:

"But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer." — Luke 5:16 (NLT)

"But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives; and we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior." — Philippians 3:20 (NLT)

"Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, 'I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.'" — Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)

Even though our feet walk on Earth today, our hearts often ache with a quiet homesickness for the place where we truly belong. Feeling unsettled or distant from the patterns of this world isn't a sign of spiritual weakness or failure; it is profound evidence that we were designed for eternity. We are heavenly citizens traveling through a temporary environment.

Like Jesus, who regularly withdrew to quiet places to reconnect with the Father, we must anchor our restless spirits in God's eternal presence. While we navigate this earthly journey, we are never stranded or left to wander on our own. God promises faithfully that He is always with us and will never leave or abandon us. Let that truth bring deep comfort to your soul today. Your current longings simply remind you that your real home awaits, while His abiding presence sustains you every step along the way.

Reflection Question: How does knowing that your true citizenship is in heaven change how you respond to feeling unsettled or out of place on Earth today?
