Retracing the Path
It can be unsettling to realize we’ve drifted from that vibrant, "fire-on-the-mountain" connection we once had with God. In Luke 2, Mary and Joseph traveled an entire day before realizing Jesus wasn’t with them. Sometimes, we do the same—we move forward with our plans, only to realize we’ve lost that sense of harmony. Deuteronomy 4:29 offers the solution: if we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.
Looking back isn’t about living in the past; it’s about spiritual navigation. By revisiting the seasons when we were in total sync with His Spirit, we gain the perspective needed to navigate our current dry spell. We can identify what changed—perhaps a habit we dropped or a worry we picked up. Looking back at our lowest points reveals a powerful truth: God provided even when our faith was small. He was the bridge over every gap, proving that His grace is the constant, even when our feelings are not.
“Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. When Jesus was twelve years old, they attended the festival as usual. After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t miss him at first, because they assumed he was among the other travelers. But when he didn’t show up that evening, they started looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. Three days later they finally discovered hm in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions.” ~Luke 2:41-46
“But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all you heart and soul, you will find him.” ~Deuteronomy 4:29
