Power of Your Thoughts

  • The Big Idea: This week, we are discovering how much God loves to help us think happy thoughts, make great choices, and stay safe in His hands using Proverbs 23:7, 1 Samuel 17:37, Isaiah 30:21, and Luke 1:37!

  • Think About This: Did you know that your brain is like a little engine, and your thoughts are the track it runs on? If you think sad or grumpy thoughts, your engine goes the wrong way. But Proverbs 23:7 reminds us that when we fill our hearts with happy, good thoughts about ourselves and others, our whole day brightens up!

Whenever you start to feel worried or trapped in a "negativity loop," you can do what David did in 1 Samuel 17:37. He remembered how God helped him beat a lion and a bear, and it gave him the happy courage to beat a giant! If you aren't sure what to do next, you don't have to guess or rush. Isaiah 30:21 promises that if you take a "holy pause" and listen quietly, God will whisper exactly which way to walk. With God in your mindset, absolutely nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37)!

  • Family Activity: Draw a picture of a giant shield. Write the words "God's Track Record" inside it. Take turns as a family sharing one cool thing God has done for you in the past, and remember that He is ready to do impossible things for you today!
