The Smile of Freedom
The Big Idea: This week, we are learning about the incredible gifts of true freedom, our special purpose, and how to grow stronger in God using John 8:36, Psalm 100:3, Numbers 6:24-25, and Hebrews 5:14!
Think About This: What do you think it means to be totally free? The world thinks freedom means doing whatever you want, but that usually just makes people selfish. Jesus gives us a much better kind of freedom—He sets our hearts free from big worries, fear, and sadness (John 8:36)!
Psalm 100:3 reminds us that you belong to Him. He custom-made you for a very special reason. And guess what? God is not looking down at you with a grumpy face. Numbers 6:24-25 tells us that His face shines on you—which means He is smiling directly at you because He loves you so much! Did you know it takes less face muscles to smile than to frown? When we share a smile, we show others God's love. To keep our hearts strong, Hebrews 5:14 reminds us to eat "spiritual solid food" by reading our Bibles every day, helping us grow big and strong on our God-given path!
Family Activity: Look in a mirror and practice making your biggest, happiest smile. Then, challenge each family member to pass that smile along to someone else today to share the joy of God's approval! Talk about one thing you learned from the Bible this week.
