Ultimate Makeover
God never meant this life to be random or wasted. According to Ephesians 4:22–24, He is constantly inviting us to take off the old ways of thinking, living, and reacting — the patterns shaped by fear, pride, pain, and sin — and to put on something new. A new heart. A new mind. A new way of being that looks more like Him. That’s not just spiritual language — that’s transformation. It’s God reshaping who we are from the inside out.
And that’s where Rick Warren’s words make so much sense: “God gives you your time on earth to build and strengthen your character — so you’ll be ready for an eternity in heaven.”
This life is God’s training ground. Not for comfort… but for character. Not for applause… but for purpose. Everything we go through — the struggles, the growth, the waiting, the healing — is shaping us into people who can carry eternal glory.
Then John 10:10 reminds us of the contrast: The enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy — to keep us stuck in the old self, trapped in shame, fear, and emptiness. But Jesus came so we could have life — real life — full, rich, and overflowing.
That abundant life doesn’t come from living for ourselves. It comes from becoming who God designed us to be.
This life was never meant to be all about us. It’s about serving the One who gave us life in the first place. It’s about becoming the kind of people who can love deeply, forgive freely, walk humbly, and reflect God faithfully — both now and forever.
God created every single one of us on purpose, with a purpose. And every day we live, He’s shaping us for something far bigger than this moment — an eternity where who we became here will finally make sense there.
Reflection Question: What is one "old way" of thinking or reacting that the Holy Spirit is inviting you to take off today, and what is the "new way" He wants you to put on instead?

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” ~John 10:10
